Spring Planting

We have been doing a lot of planting lately. These pictures show us planting our blueberry and raspberry bushes. We also planted 4 peach trees. The last picture shows some white peaches that are starting to grow. In addition to the fruit, we have planted 12 asparagus plants and several tomato and pepper plants. We cannot do a full blown garden this year because we are about to start adding onto our house later this month and we just will not have time for a huge garden.

I'm so excited for you guys. The yard is really starting to take shape. Let me share a tip from the wisdom of my grandfather; of blessed memory. He said take a 5 gallon bucket and 2 nails, poke 2 holes in the side of the bucket at the bottom with the nails and put it by your newly planted trees, fill with water and this will make sure it has enough water to get the roots good and healthy. He recommends doing it for the first 2-3 years. Now I've done this in the past and only had to fill the bucket once a week, but you just gauge it and as needed refill the bucket. It really does work, especially in a drought. Make sure to mulch around the tree, this helps keep the water from evaporating.

Doesn't it make your home seem more like a home having those trees planted. They are so much a testament to the greatness of our G-d....watching them grow and knowing that HaShem so perfectly designed them.
