Color Blind

I really enjoy working with kids. On a lot of my school tours, a few of the 4th graders decide they want to stick by my side during the entire day. This was one such day and these three boys were so cute. They asked their mom to take a picture of them with their tour guide. Since I had really been enjoying these particular kids' company that day, I asked the mom to take a picture for me also. It wasn't until later when I downloaded some pictures off my cell phone that I realized these three boys were from different races. To me they were just great kids and I never paid any attention to race. This is how I live my life. I always say my one prejudice is prejudice people. I will admit that at times I am disappointed with individuals and find that stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. However, I do not think we can judge individuals when we first meet them based on hair styles, tattoos, color of skin or anything like that. Embracing the differences in people makes each day interesting and I love that.

I *heart* you! As someone who has felt the sting of others prejudice all too often, those that I know who are able to grow past that tendency and accept people for who they are really...well, I'm more thankful for them than words can say.

I've always said that the only thing I can't tolerate is intolerance. If we were all the same it would be a very, very dull world... Variety is the spice of life IMO!

Jen, it is so great that you really love what you do. It shows in the smile that is on your face. I am always amazed at what kids can teach us...loving everyone for who they are and not for what color they might be.

Jen, if only there were more people like you. I am amazed constantly by the racist comments I hear. Underneath the skin we all look the same. We all experience pain and laughter. We all love and want to be loved. May our world be healed soon. Love, Cammy

I love that one little boys smile. He just lights up the room! Doesn't he? You said it girl...nothing matters but how we all love one another, regardless of race, sex, or creed. It makes me think of the bumper sticker that says coexist with various religious symbols as the letters. Well, to tell you the truth, we DO coexist (we have to, we all live here), it's the way we coexist that matters. Keep up your shining example!
